Moving bus catches fire

By Narad Kohar, Taulihawa, Feb.12: A moving bus en route from Kathmandu to Surkhet, was completely destroyed in a fire this morning at Titihiriya in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality–6 of Kapilvastu district, along the Taulihawa–Bhairahawa road section.

The fire reportedly broke out suddenly while the bus was moving. 

The vehicle ( Na.7.Kha 6048) was stopped at the roadside after flames were noticed. The fire is said to have started from the left wheel of the bus. 

Although locals, police personnel, and a fire engine from Kapilvastu Municipality made efforts to extinguish the blaze, the bus was completely gutted within half an hour, according to the Area Police Office, Pakadi.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ripendra Kumar Singh said that no human casualties have been reported in the incident. 

All 44 passengers on board are safe. However, some belongings of the passengers kept inside the bus were destroyed in the fire.

The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
