By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan.3: A large number of people are taking a holy bath in the Shali River in Sankhu, Kathmandu, for the Shree Swasthani barta (fast), which began on the full moon day of the Nepali month of Poush.

The month-long religious observance, marked by abstention from certain foods and the recitation of the Swasthani holy story, began on the full moon day of the Nepali month of Poush, starting Saturday.

The Shali River will be crowded with devotees during the month-long Swasthani fast.
