Health Minister Gautam calls for advancement of Naradevi Ayurveda Hospital

Kathmandu, Dec 26: Minister for Health and Population, Dr Sudha Gautam, has echoed the need for developing Naradevi Ayurveda Hospital into a central Ayurveda facility.

During her visit to the hospital today, she stated that the hospital should be developed as a referral centre for all Ayurvedic treatment facilities in the country.

Stating the government is effortful to modernize Ayurveda hospitals into advanced and well-equipped institutions, she also called for integrating Yoga and meditation practices into Ayurveda treatments. She urged the hospital to play an active role in raising public awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, diet, and behavior.

Acknowledging the need for improvements in the health insurance program, she pledged to ensure that Ayurveda treatments are covered under such schemes.

On the occasion, hospital director Dr Basudev Upadhyay briefed the Minister on the hospital’s services and workforce.

Established in 1974 BS, the century-old hospital now operates as a 100-bed facility, offering 24-hour nursing care, specialized Ayurveda and alternative medical treatments, and free distribution of medicines. (RSS)
