Kathmandu, Nov 29: The Pokhara Avengers set a target of 151 runs for the Lumbini Lions in today’s first match of the Nepal Premier League, a franchise-based T20 cricket tournament.
After losing the toss, Pokhara were invited to bat first at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The teams scored 150 runs in 20 overs at the loss of five wickets.
Pokhara had a slow start. With only 15 runs on the board, they lost their first wicket, Dinesh Kharel, and soon after, captain Kushal Bhurtel was also out. Sumit Verma came in next but was dismissed without scoring, while Tirtharaj Das scored just a single run.
But when Jimmy Neesham arrived as the seventh batter, he partnered for 92 runs with opener Adam Rossington. Rossington scored 81 runs off 63 balls, with five sixes and seven fours while Neesham added 51 runs, including three sixes and three fours.
For Lumbini, Sher Malla and Tilak Bhandari took two wickets each, while Gulbadin Naib claimed one.
The second match of the day will be played between the Sudurpaschim Royals and the Janakpur Bolts. (RSS)
