Kathmandu, Nov 28: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said the role of the Nepali Army (NA) would be significant to successfully holding the upcoming election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5, maintaining peace and security in the country.
In course of inspecting the Nepali Army Headquarters, Bhadrakali, today, Prime Minister Karki clarified that the NA has the major role in the campaign of fulfilling the national duties by holding HoR election in a free, fair and fear-free environment on the slated date ensuring peace and security according to the responsibility received for the government.
She expressed the belief that the NA would successfully complete the received responsibility like in the past during election security.
"I urge the Army to move ahead along with a clear action plan in order to create environment to ensure security to the people, to facilitate, support and secure police operation as well as allow all political parties to organise political activities without any hindrance," she argued.
PM Karki urged the NA to work coordinating with all security bodies based on security sensitivity by analyzing experiences of previous elections and various dimensions of the upcoming election.
She directed the NA to make necessary coordination with other security bodies including Nepal Police to maintain peace and security in the country, to recover the looted weapons and arrest the prisoners who escaped during Gen Z protest.
On the occasion, PM Karki enquired about the preparation of election security.
Similarly, the NA briefed the PM about the present security situation, major challenge and future plan, according to the PM's Secretariat.
A presentation was made about the plan and model of NA mobilization in election security.
Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Anil Kumar Sinha, Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal, Chief of the Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel, among other senior officials were present on the occasion. (RSS)
