NPL: Kathmandu wins by 53 runs

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov 28: Kathmandu Gorkhas has won against Chitwan Rhinos by 53 runs in the first match of the day under the Nepal Premier League.

Batting first after losing the toss, Kathmandu Gorkhas set a target of 143 runs; however, Chitwan Rhions were all out after scoring 89 runs in 17.2 overs. With this win, Kathmandu, which has played five matches, has collected 6 points.

Put in to bat after losing the toss at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, they were dismissed for 142 runs in 19.4 overs. John Simpson top-scored with 60 runs, while Milind Kumar contributed 38.

For Chitwan, Sohail Tanvir claimed four wickets, with Kamal Singh Airee and Ranjit Kumar taking two wickets each.

Chasing a target of 143 runs, Dev Khanal and Ravi Bopara scored 21 runs each for Chitwan, while apart from Sohail Tanvir who scored 18 runs, no batsman could reach double figures.

To limit Chitwan in 17.2 overs, Rashid Khan took three wickets, while Karan KC, Milind Kumar, Shahab Alam took two wickets each, and Santosh Yadav took a wicket. 

With the win, under the captainship of Karan KC, Kathmandu has risen to third place with six points in the table. Kathmandu has played five games, winning three and losing two. 

Chitwan under the captainship of Kushal Malla, played four games, wining two and losing two. With this, Chitwan has fallen on fourth place.
