Gorkhapatra joins Social Security Fund, MoU exchanged

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov 27: Gorkhapatra Corporation, the country's oldest media house that publishes daily newspaper with a glorious history of 125 years, has officially joined the Social Security Fund.

This important decision was made by the board of directors of the corporation held on November 20, chaired by General Manager Lal Bahadur Airi.

According to the institute, after this decision is implemented, at least 154 journalists and employees working on a temporary basis will directly benefit from social security facilities.

This is expected to ensure the safety, dignity, and long-term professional stability of the workforce working within the Institute.

According to General Manager Airi, the decision to go to the Social Security Fund has been made keeping in mind the sustainable institutional development of the corporation and the future security of the employees.

He said, "The decision to join the Social Security Fund has been made with the long-term interests of the institution and employees in mind. This issue has been taken forward with the facilitation of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in line with the policy of cabinet decision."


The formalization of this process was completed today, November 27, at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been exchanged between Gorkhapatra Corporation and SSF in the presence of Prime Minister Sushila Karki and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel. 

The memorandum of understanding has been signed by Lal Bahadur Airi, General Manager of the Corporation, and Kabiraj Adhikari, Executive Director of the Social Security Fund.
