612 patients benefit from free eye checkup camp in Humla

Simkot (Humla), Nov 26: Six hundred and twelve people have benefited from a free eye examination camp conducted in Simkot, the headquarters of Humla district. Of these beneficiaries, 69 underwent cost-free surgery for removal of cataract. 

Medicines and spectacles were also distributed to the needy at the three-day free eye checkup camp organized by Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh Humla Branch and the Sangh-run Himalaya Eye Hospital Pokhara with the financial and technical assistance of the Ready Eye Foundation.

A team of ophthalmologists under the leadership of Dr Anil Parajuli of Himalaya Eye Hospital Pokhara rendered their services at the eye camp organized targeting Namkha, Simkot, Kharpunath, Sarkegad and Chankheli rural municipalities in the district.

Children and senior citizens were among the beneficiaries. The Ready Eye Foundation stated that such free eye camp will also be organized in Adanchuli Rural Municipality of the district as well.

Nepal Red Cross Society Humla Branch and the District Eye Care Centre had also coordinated in the eye camp. (RSS)
