By Sahara Limbu, Phungling, Nov.26: A woman has been injured after being attacked by a wild bear in Taplejung.
A 35-year-old woman, Urmila Kharel of Thechambu, Yanwarak Rural Municipality -2, Pathibhara, was injured in a wild bear attack.
According to Shiva Adhikari, Municipal President of the Community Forest Users Federation, Kharel was attacked by a bear at home at around 1 PM on Tuesday.
Kharel, who was injured in the attack, has suffered injuries to his right leg, right hand, and face.
The injured have been brought to the district hospital for treatment.
Locals said that there is a forest near the house and that the animal came from the same forest and attacked the house.
Adhikari said that a team from the Division Forest Office, Taplejung, reached the spot to curb the ferocious bear.
Locals suspect that the bear came to the settlement to eat domestic animals and livestock due to lack of food.
A bear attack has wreaked havoc in the settlement as the bear is still inside the village.
Adhikari has urged locals to be vigilant.
