Kathmandu, Nov 25: Senior vice-chair of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), Iswar Pokharel has announced his candidacy for the post of the chairperson of the party in the upcoming 11th national general convention.
Issuing a statement here Tuesday, he announced his candidacy for the topmost post of the party in the upcoming general convention based on his contributions to the party building process. "I have announced my candidature for the party presidency for party reorganization and transformation after listening to the urges and suggestions of the party colleagues across the country", he noted in the statement.
He expressed his commitment to develop the UML as a decisive national political force through collective leadership and efforts by delegating the responsibilities to the party leaders and cadres based on their qualification, capacity and interests.
The CPN (UML) is set to hold its general convention in Kathmandu on December 13-15. The delegates are to be picked up at home and abroad for the general convention on November 29.
Leader Pokahrel has urged all party members to actively and freely participate in the selection of the delegates without any fear.
It is the shared responsibility of all to move ahead keeping the welfare of the nation and the people at the centre by safeguarding their party, he said, arguing that only a party with prospered internal democracy can build and lead a democratic society.
The senior vice-chair also stated that he would soon disclose the extended document with his political and organizational perspectives to be presented in the general convention. (RSS)
