By Prabin Kumar Sharma, Rautahat, Nov 25: The body of a woman being buried in a haystack has been found at the Bhusaha, Brindaban Municipality in Rautahat district.
Police found Tarima Khatun, the 25-year-old wife of Sheikh Adil of Bhusaha, Brindaban Municipality-9, murdered and buried in a pit in the haystack area of her own house on Monday night.
A joint team from the Area Police Office, Garuda, and the District Police Office, Rautahat, reached the spot upon receiving the information about the incident and found Khatun's body buried, according to the District Police Office, Rautahat.
According to police, Khatun suffered serious injuries to her right leg and was allegedly killed with a sharp weapon struck on her head.
Police have also recovered a knife from the crime scene.
According to the District Police Office, Rautahat, the deceased's husband, Sheikh Adil, is in Saudi Arabia for foreign employment.
Police said that after the incident, all members of the family, including Khatun's father-in-law, Sheikh Ali Mohammad, fled with Khatun's one-and-a-half-year-old son, Mohammad Arif.
Khatun's body has been kept at Chandranigahapur Hospital for postmortem.
The District Police Office, Rautahat, said that the search for the absconding family members has been intensified, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
