By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov 25: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has viewed that there will be no equality till poverty exists.

She said so while launching the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence during a program organized at the Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens on Tuesday.

PM Karki highlighted the need to curb corruption and bring good governance for poverty reduction.

She said, "We need to first eliminate poverty.  Employment opportunities have to be created. Women should be able to work, then only equality will come, ending violence against women."

“Women are compelled to go abroad in search of employment as the employment situation in the country is appalling. Women are facing violence while going abroad in search of employment,” the PM maintained.

According to her, women are being given preference in new appointments since she came to power. "Whenever a situation arises where women can be brought to the forefront, they are brought in".

Women are suffering violence because of digital technology as well, she said.
