By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov. 22: Gorkhapatra literary conference has been held today at Shailung in Dolakha district.
Some 50 creative artists, noted literary figures, participated in the conference held at the top of Shailung, a scenic viewpoint located at 3145 meters high from sea level. Shailung, a group of 100 hillocks, is located at Shailung Rural Municipality 8, Dolakha.
In the conference entitled as Literature for Tourism: Gorkhapatra
Literary Conference, over 20 poets recited their creative works while about 40 literary
figures participated in the event.
Speaking on
the occasion, General Manager of the Gorkhapatra Corporation, Lal Bahadur Airi,
highlighted that the literary conference was to promote tourist destinations
and thus enhance both local economic and literary development.
"Through
this programme, as a media house, we will be presenting this place to global
audience. This will in turn will promote tourism here," he said,
"This programme is part of our creative journalism and a step to get directly
connected with the society."
Chief
district officer of Dolakha, Narayan Prasad Risal, viewed that the literary
event would make the popular tourist destination, Shailung, known to wider
circle of people.
In addition
to nationally known literary figures such as Yubaraj Nayaghare, locally popular
creative writers and even students participated in the poetry recitation.
Suvash Chandra Paudel, Laxmi Dhakal, Ranjana Niraula, Amardip Sunuwar, Bimukh Paudel, Kishori Pahadi, Balkrishna Thapaliya, Amar Bantuk, Tara BM, Ranjana Thapaliya, Dipshankar Chaulagain, Sushila Sharma, Bishnu Bahadur Basnet, Sushila Khadka, Januka Rai, Nandu Upreti, Tirtha Adhikari, Amrita BK, Dipika KC and Janaki Shreshta and others recited their poems related to Shailung.
A similar kind of conference was held last year in Bandipur, Tanahun.

Meanwhile,
different publications of the Gorkhapatra Corporation were handed over for the
library use to Durga Secondary School in Shailung Rural Municipality-4.
