One dead, 14 injured in microbus accident in Dhankuta

By Kabiraj Ghimire, Hile, Nov 21:  One died while 14 others sustained injuries in a tragic accident in Pakhribas, Dhankuta.

The accident occurred when a Hiace microbus (Ba 4 Kha 5502) belonging to Saptakoshi Company, en route from Kathmandu to Khandbari, lost control on the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhainse, Pakhribas Municipality-5, Dhankuta.

Police said the microbus fell about 70 meters off the road, causing an accident. 

The deceased has been identified as 82-year-old Sabita Kalakheti of Sabhapokhari-2, Sankhuwasabha, district. 

She died in the course of treatment at the District Hospital, Dhankuta.

After the accident, a police team under the command of Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson of the Pakhribas Area Police Office, reached the spot and rescued the injured.

DSP Rajan Karki, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Dhankuta, said that all the rescued injured has been taken to the District Hospital, Dhankuta through various vehicles.

The cause of the accident has not been determined, and police said further investigations are underway.
