Over 11,000 families receive cash assistance in E. Afghanistan

KABUL, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) : More than 11,000 vulnerable families in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province have received cash assistance over the past eight months, the local media Tolo News reported Tuesday.

According to the report, over 74 million afghanis (about 1.05 million U.S. dollars) in cash aid funded by the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) was distributed to families affected by recent earthquakes and other hardships.

In addition to cash support, the ARCS has provided food assistance and set up 1,850 tents for displaced and disaster-affected households. Efforts are ongoing to secure more humanitarian support for families in need across the province, the report added.

Eastern Afghanistan, including Nangarhar, has been hit by a series of natural disasters and continues to struggle with economic challenges, displacement and the impact of previous conflicts. Humanitarian organizations, including the ARCS, have been actively working to meet urgent needs, particularly for families affected by recent earthquakes.
