Prime Minister Karki instructs NVC to enhance its effectiveness

Kathmandu, Nov 17: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed the National Vigilance Centre (NVC) to carry out its functions more effectively.

During a meeting with NVC secretary, Sarju Kumar Baidya on Tuesday, she noted that the Gen-Z movement inherently opposes corruption, thus necessitating the Vigilance Centre's effective engagement towards that end.

While issuing her directives, Prime Minister Karki stressed the importance of the centre's enhanced role in addressing complaints related to delays, irregularities, and corruption from public institutions. She remarked that rather than implementing punitive actions post-corruption, it is essential to foster an environment that prevents corruption from arising, her secretariat said.

"There should be an emphasis on regulation and monitoring to improve the effectiveness of services provided by public entities. It is crucial to verify compliance with central directives," stated Prime Minister Karki. She highlighted that the centre must focus on ensuring quality in development and construction projects, completing tasks within the established timelines, budgets, and standards, as well as conducting necessary technical evaluations.

She further pointed out the need to allocate adequate human and financial resources for meeting these objectives.(RSS)
