Kathmandu, Nov 2: The Department of Information and Broadcasting has stated that the work of registration and renewal of online media will be done from the Department.
The department will maintain records of registration and operation of online media and will regularly provide these records to the Press Council. This has put an end to the hassle of submitting documents to various agencies.
After receiving complaints about the hassle of submitting different documents for the same work, the department has implemented a single-door system in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The DoI published a notice today stating that the Department will regularly provide the records of online media to the Press Council and that service recipients will not have to submit documents including registration certificates to the Press Council for the purpose of updating the records.
Press Council Nepal has also published a notice today, stating that since the revised Printing and Publication Regulations, 2082 have been published in the Nepal Gazette and have come into effect, the Council will not be responsible for the archiving and listing of online media outlets.
Since assuming the responsibility of the Ministry of Communications, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel has been giving instructions to implement a single-door system to make media-related activities easy and effective.(RSS)
