By Amarraj Naharki,Tanahun, Sept. 21: Yammaya Rana of Tharpuki, Myagde Rural Municipality–4, Tanahun contracted polio during her childhood, which left her right leg paralysed.
Since then, she has relied on crutches to walk. Yet, despite her disability, her self-confidence and determination never wavered. Through strong willpower and hard work, she has established herself as a successful entrepreneur.
Eight years ago, she founded Rana Chow Mein Industry, which continues to provide her with a steady income.
Her noodles are supplied to markets in Shuklagandaki Municipality, the surrounding areas of Myagde Rural Municipality, and hotels and restaurants along the Prithvi Highway.
Alongside noodles, she also sells vegetables and spices. Through this business, she manages to save between Rs. 600,000 and 700,000 annually.
To enhance production, Rana invested around Rs. 600,000 in modern machinery and also purchased a vehicle to expand her market reach.
Currently, the industry provides job to three people. With the growing demand for her products, she acknowledges the need to further upgrade and develop her enterprise.
Talking about her experience, Rana said, “We need opportunities more than sympathy or affection. With accessible loans, skills and equipment, even those with disabilities can achieve their goals.”
Recognising her struggle and achievements, Myagde Rural Municipality included her among 40 outstanding entrepreneurs under the “Promoting Inclusive Entrepreneurship and Employment Programme.”
Pradeep Neupane, Head of the Economic Development Section, said, “Rana is an inspiring example that disability does not prevent anyone from becoming an entrepreneur.”
“By running her own business and providing employment to others, she sets a model for everyone to follow,” said Neupane.
