By Bom Lal Giri,Nawalpur, Sept. 20: Transportation along the Narayanghat–Butwal section of the East-West Highway has been disrupted for the past three days due to continuous rainfall. The Daunne stretch in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality has become difficult to traverse, according to Nawalpur District Traffic Office.

Inspector Janak Raj Banjara said landslides, slippery conditions, and potholes near Khursani Khola and Bishwakarma Temple have forced one-way traffic operations since Wednesday, but obstructions persist. The road is currently partially open, though vehicles climbing west-to-east have been struggling.

Police reported a seven-kilometre-long traffic jam in both directions, worsened by vehicles breaking down mid-route. Continuous rainfall has hampered efforts to clear blockages.

Authorities urged travelers to check road conditions before setting out. The Chinese contractor responsible for the highway expansion has been criticised for negligence, while Chief District Officer Bhabishwar Pandey directed the contractor to fill potholes and halt further cutting to ease festive travel. However, implementation has lagged, leaving Dashain travelers facing hardships.
