By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 15: Newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki has endorsed decision to declare martyrs to those who died during the Gen-Z movement and pledged to provide one million rupees as compensation to their families.
Assuming office on Sunday, PM Karki decided that the family of those who lost their lives during the movement will be provided with Rs. 1 million each and the injured will be offered free treatment.

PM Karki also garlanded the statues of the martyrs at Lainchaur and Shahid Gate before assuming her position.
PM Karki stated that the government would intensify its action plan after assessing the loss and damage. However, she wondered who made a series of attacks on the nation’s valuable infrastructures during the Gen-Z movement.
In her first address as the PM, Karki stated that the country’s most essential institutions have been targeted. She also noted that there might be a planned conspiracy behind the attacks on the state infrastructure.
“Police stations were burned down. Valuable files in the Court and Singha Durbar were destroyed. It looks like that there was a planned conspiracy.
In such a condition, how can I conclude that this was done by a genuine Nepali? However, an investigation is yet to be done. Those who were involved in attacks will be searched, and action will be taken,” PM Karki stated.
She also appealed for support from all sectors as she assumed office in a critical condition. Prime Minister Karki expressed her commitment by stating that she had not taken the position to indulge in luxury. Instead, she held a challenge in a critical condition and would hand over after completing her six months tenure.
Thanking the private sector for its commitment for the initiation of reform, PM Karki stated that the government would reconstruct police stations and essential offices.
PM Karki also added that the government has offered free treatment and relief assistance to those injured during the Gen-Z movement.
“The arrangements will be made to cover the accommodation for the families of the deceased, including food expenses, and transport of the body to their local address. Similarly, free treatment for a lifetime will be provided for those who were disabled due to injury,” stated PM Karki.
Appreciating the Gen-Z movement that toppled the KP Oli-led government, PM Karki stated that corruption must come to an end, and good governance and economic equality established.
