NEPSE declines by 11.52 points

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 8: The benchmark of share market index, NEPSE, has decreased on Sunday, the first trading day of the week. The NEPSE, which has been continuously declining for the past three trading days, continued its downward trend today as well.

The NEPSE dropped by 11.52 points and closed at 2,708.25 points on Sunday. The NEPSE index declined by 30.05 points in five trading days of last week.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also decreased by 2.32 points to close at 467.51 points.

According to NEPSE, the sub-indices of banking, hotels and tourism, others, hydropower, development bank, non-life insurance, trading, microfinance, life insurance and investment group decreased while sub-indices of manufacturing and processing, finance and mutual fund increased in today’s transaction.

Sub-index of life insurance group posted the highest fall of 51.64 points followed by hotels and tourism and hydropower group whose indices decreased by 33.11 points and 23.45 points respectively. Similarly, sub-index of non-life insurance group dropped by 22.86 points, trading by 9.89 points, banking by 9.34 points, microfinance by 9.43 points, others by 8.71 points, development bank by 4.90 points and investment by 0.08 points.

However, the sub-index of manufacturing and processing group increased marginally by 3.27 points, finance by 2.39 points and mutual fund by 0.08 points.

A total of 11,124,845 shares worth Rs. 4.40 billion of 334 companies were bought and sold in 58,087 transactions today.

The share price of 200 companies decreased while the share price of 122 companies increased in today’s transaction.

On this day, share price of Panchakanya Mai Hydropower decreased by 4.62 per cent, Bikash Hydropower Company by 3.92 per cent and ICFC Finance Limited Debenture 2083 by 3.88 per cent.

However, the share price of Him Star Urja Company Limited increased significantly by 9.97 per cent while the share price of NIBL Samriddhi Fund-2 increased by 5.83 per cent and Universal Power Company by 5.12 per cent.
