Nepathya performs in Denmark

BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Aug. 27: Just two weeks after captivating 10,000 fans at London’s Wembley Arena, Nepathya has once again drawn massive crowds in Denmark. Their concert at the historic Poulen Hall in Copenhagen on Saturday attracted a larger fans from across Europe.

The venue, known for echoing Europe’s industrial-era grandeur, was packed with audiences that included Nepal’s Ambassador to Denmark, Sumnima Tuladhar, and former Danish Ambassador to Nepal, Gert Menke, both attending with their families.

According to the organiser, Pawan Pandey, lead vocalist Amrit Gurung entertained the audience with the opening song ‘Koshi Ko Paani,’ as hundreds of raised hands illuminated the venue with mobile flashlights.

The two-hour performance blended music with conversation. Staying true to his reflective style, Gurung urged the diaspora audience to call home on the occasion of Father’s Day. His words left many in the audience visibly emotional. He also stressed the importance of preserving Nepali language and identity abroad.

Former Ambassador Menke praised the band for building a cultural bridge between Nepal and the world. “The way Nepathya presented traditional Nepali music with such professionalism was remarkable. The bond between performers and audience was rare to witness,” he said.

For Byoma Tamrakar, who traveled from Helsinki, the show was a nostalgic return to Nepathya’s 2006 Finland concert. “The energy, the songs, the atmosphere, everything was unforgettable. This time, the band reached a new height,” she added. Similarly, Pralaya Rijal from Oslo said that the concert as a once-in-a-lifetime experience for music lovers.

Alongside their iconic hits, Nepathya performed ‘Yo Jindagani’, during which Gurung appealed to the audience to support children in Nepal who lack access to schooling. The concert concluded with the crowd favourite ‘Rato ra Chandra Surya.’

Amrit Gurung was joined by Dhruva Lama (drums), Subin Shakya (bass), Neeraj Gurung (guitar), Shanti Rayamajhi (madal), and Dineshraj Regmi (keyboard).
