SKorean envoy, Minister Khadka discuss GICC, bilateral cooperation

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 27: Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Park Tae-young, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Dipak Khadka.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation on Tuesday, they have discussed wide range of bilateral cooperation.

According to a press statement issued by the Ministry, special discussions were held on preparations for the Global Infrastructure Corporation Conference (GICC) 2025 to be held from September 16-18. 

Ambassador Park said that 35 countries have so far confirmed their participation in the conference and expressed confidence that this could be used as an important opportunity to present Nepal's energy projects to the international community.

On the occasion, they discussed various projects being carried out in Nepal with Korean assistance, including the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project and the transmission line project.

Minister Khadka expressed gratitude for the ongoing Korean support and investment in Nepal and pledged to continue the ongoing cooperation in transmission lines and other energy infrastructure projects in a positive direction.

He expressed his hope that more Korean investment will be attracted to Nepal's energy, water resources and irrigation sectors in coming days as well. Both sides expressed confidence that the potential and investment opportunities in Nepal's hydropower sector can be highlighted through GICC 2025, which will take bilateral energy cooperation to new heights.
