Hetauda Butwal, Nepalgunj unveil budget

By Our Correspondent,Hetauda, ​​June 25: Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City has presented a budget of Rs. 2.9 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26. 

Deputy Mayor of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City Rajesh Baniya presented the budget for the next fiscal year at the 17th municipal assembly of the sub-metropolitan city on Tuesday.

The size of budget for the next fiscal year of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City is higher than the budget for the current fiscal year. 

The sub-metropolitan city had presented a budget of Rs. 2.43 billion for the current fiscal year 2025/26.

For the implementation of policy, programmes and budget for the upcoming fiscal year, it is estimated that it will mobilise Rs. 627 million from internal sources, Rs. 921.4 million from revenue sharing, Rs. 114.5 million grant to be received from the provincial government and Rs. 1.19 billion from federal government.

Similarly, the sub-metropolis has planned to receive debt of Rs. 36 million from the Municipal Development Fund.

The sub-metropolitan city has allocated Rs. 683.94 million for municipal-level infrastructure, including roads, playgrounds, energy, street lights, water resources, buildings and housing, irrigation, and other infrastructure, while a budget of Rs. 322.56 million has been allocated for ward-level plans and programmes.

For the upcoming fiscal year, the sub-metropolitan city has allocated Rs. 40 million to complete and operate the integrated bus park and terminal building in the sub-metropolitan city area, Rs. 15 million to operate a cost-sharing plan with Road Board Nepal for urban road maintenance, Rs. 300 million to pay the outstanding payment obligations of the plans that are in operation under the agreement in the current fiscal year.

Similarly, around Rs. 70 million has been allocated for the Padampokhari main road expansion, large drinking water supply, and ring road projects for the supplementary fund plan from the federal government and the provincial government.

The sub-metropolitan city has allocated a budget of Rs. 46.97 million from internal sources for the operation of plans and programmes under economic development area. 

For agricultural development, budget of Rs. 16.2 million has been allocated for advanced seeds and agricultural promotion, Rs. 15 million for seasonal and off-season grass distribution programmes and various animal development programmes and Rs. 9.8 million for self-employment programmes with the mayor.


Butwal unveils budget of Rs. 3.36 billion 

According to our correspondent, Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City has unveiled a budget of Rs. 3.36 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26.

Deputy Mayor of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City Sabitra Devi Aryal presented the budget for the next fiscal year at the 3rd meeting of the 17th general assembly of the sub-metropolis on Monday. 

Of the total budget, the sub-metropolis has allocated budget of Rs. 1.64 billion (49 per cent) for the recurrent expenditure and Rs. 1.71 billion (51 per cent) for the capital expenditure. 

The estimated budget for the next fiscal year is about Rs. 370 million more than the current fiscal year's budget.

The sub-metropolitan city had presented the budget of Rs. 2.99 billion for the current fiscal year.

It is estimated that it will mobilise Rs. 950 million from internal sources in the upcoming fiscal year.

Presenting the budget, Deputy Mayor Aryal said that special priority has been given to education, health, employment, tourism and agriculture in the upcoming fiscal year.

A budget of Rs. 5 million has been allocated to run tourism promotion programmes to establish Butwal as a tourist resort and Rs. 11.5 million to make Butwal a cultural city.

Under the campaign called 'Let's Travel To Butwal', a budget has been allocated to run campaigns to increase the arrival of domestic and foreign tourists by declaring next fiscal year as Butwal Visit Year.

The sub-metropolitan city has allocated budget of Rs. 60 million to improve schools and meet minimum standards, Rs. 10 million for 'Butwal's Kisan Hamro San' under the agricultural reform programme and Rs. 5 million for 'Chhori Padhaun Programme, to provide free education to girl students.

Similarly, budget of Rs. 3 million has been allocated for clothing and educational improvement to underprivileged children, Rs. 10 million for digital learning portal and computer education improvement in community schools and Rs. 7 million for improving local curricula.

Likewise, a budget of Rs. 9 million has been allocated for the operation of the Mayor's Programme with Parents, Rs. 3 million for women's cervical and breast cancer, video X-ray and other health tests and Rs. 6 million for the operation and management of hospitals built in Butwal Sub-metropolitan City- 13 and 17.


Nepalgunj budget amounts Rs. 1.64 billion 

Meanwhile, according to our Nepalgunj correspondent, Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City has presented a budget of Rs 1.64 billion for the fiscal year 2025/26.

Deputy Mayor of the sub-metropolitan city Kamruddin Rai has presented the income and expenditure estimates of the sub-metropolis at the 17th session of the Municipal Assembly on Tuesday.

It is estimated that the sub-metropolitan city will mobilise Rs. 620 million from conditional grant to be received from federal government, Rs 267 million from financial equalisation, Rs 230 million from revenue sharing, Rs. 120 million from house and land registration and Rs. 230 million from internal revenue.
