By Chitra Mijar,Sindhupalchowk, June 3: A well-equipped municipal hospital has been established in Melamchi Municipality.

The mayor of the municipality Aitaman Tamang informed that the hospital will provide comprehensive treatment services, including specialist medical care in the near future.

The two-storey hospital has 15 beds and is planned to be upgraded to a 25-bed provincial-level hospital. The hospital has been built with a budget of Rs. 150 million from the federal government. It will offer medical services through specialist doctors, including MDs, MBBS doctors and other health professionals.

The hospital will provide surgery, maternity services, general health care, dental care, orthopedics and other comprehensive health services. The locals are happy with the establishment of a well-facilitated municipal hospital in Melamchi Municipality-11.

Mayor Tamang said that the hospital would benefit people from Melamchi Municipality, Helambu Rural Municipality, Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality, Indrawati Rural Municipality and even parts of Kavrepalanchowk district.

Previously, the municipality had been operating the hospital from an old building. Sindhupalchowk district has three municipalities and nine rural municipalities. A provincial-level hospital is currently operating in Chautara Municipality.

Recently, Bahrabise Municipality has also brought a municipal hospital into operation in Bahrabise. The nine rural municipalities are in the process of constructing their own local-level hospital buildings.

Once these hospitals start operating, locals of Sindhupalchowk will no longer need to travel to Dhulikhel Hospital or hospitals in the capital for treatment.
