Govt to make public service more effective, develop OPMCM as Center of Excellence

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 2: The government has come up with a new programme to develop the Office of the Prime Minister and Council (OPMCM) as a Center of Excellence to make public service and development administration more effective and result oriented.

Point 140 of the policy and programme of the government for the FY 2025/26 read out today by President Ramchandra Paudel at the parliament read, "The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers will be developed as a Center of Excellence to make public service and development administration more effective and result oriented. Performance-based evaluation will be integrated into career development."

Result-oriented monitoring of all development projects will be conducted. The performance of monitoring agencies will be monitored by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, said President Paudel.

The reform measures as directed by the High-Level Governance Reform Commission formed under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister will be carried out gradually to ensure good governance and effective administration. The e-Governance Board will be made active for simplification of the decision-making process and transformation of services through the use of technology, according to the policy and programme.

Close and continuous monitoring will be carried to ensure citizens' easy and simple access to public services. A Rapid Response Team will be mobilized for prompt address of the complaints lodged in the Hello Sarkar portal, read the document.

The government has also brought forth plan to make government and public services accessible and efficient by means of Nagarik App. "Most of the public services will be linked to Nagarik App to make government and public services accessible and efficient. Citizen Service Centres will be operationalized, in coordination with the local levels, to provide services of different agencies from a single station".
