By Sahadev Basnet, Jajarkot,May.2: More than 200 sheep died of an unknown disease in Mulsam, Barekot Rural Municipality-3, Jajarkot.
The locals are wary as sheep are dying one by one from an unknown disease. They complain that treatment is not possible without knowing its cause.
According to the ward chair of Barekot Rural Municipality-3, Ram Bahadur Singh, local veterinarians are providing treatment.
He said, "Sheep are dying quickly one by one after severe diarrhea. Now, we people's representatives and vets, are working to provide treatment to ill sheep. But, the mortality rate has not stopped, and the majority of sheep of farmers have died.
Chief of the Veterinary hospital and livestock service office, Kapil Upadhaya, said that swab, blood, and part of the stomach of the sheep have been sent to a laboratory for testing. It will be difficult to tell which disease is killing sheep until the report comes.
Vet on site said, "There is not enough medicine here. No special heed is paid by the district in the case. Treatment is not possible only with our effort."
Sheep is a main source of earning for farmers dependent on agriculture.
