Kathmandu, May 1: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that she wishes to work for the nation for the rest of her life.
Receiving the 'RSS Photo Book: 16 Years of The Republic' published by the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) here today, the first women President of the country said, "The rest of my life will be for the nation."
Stating that that the parties in the government are seen becoming party-centric, she said that all of us should pay attention to what is our national aspiration rather than the aspirations and ambitions of individuals or parties.
"It is natural to have more political parties in a party system, but it is necessary to come up with a sustainable programme with national consensus to improve the situation," she said, "when no party gets a clear majority, the government changes frequently and small parties bargain for power."
Lauding the government's initiative to introduce immediate, short-term and long-term programmes with a sense of responsibility, the former President said the time has now come to consider the challenges that may arise due to the rapid migration in the recent past, while addressing the growing demands and aspirations of the people.
We will also have to act as per the time as today's new generation wants to change faster. The situation is not the same as before, which needs the attention of the responsible parties.(RSS)
