Adolescent in labour pain rescued by helicopter in Humla

Simkot (Humla), April 29: A 16 -year-old girl was rescued by a helicopter from Thehe of Simkot rural municipality-2 in Humla for labour complications.

Though she was due after one and half months, her labour pain had begun on Sunday. The pain continues and she was diagnoised with hyper tension upon arrival at the District Hospital, Humla. As her treatment within the district seemed not possible, she was referred to the Provincial Hospital Surkhet, according to Health Service Office's Chef Dr Pratiksha Bharati.  

During the checkup at the District Hospital, the baby's fetal position was found not be normal. The baby had taken the transverse position, instead of vertical one. The case medically required  surgical interventions  and she was sent to Surkhet via the helicopter of Nepal Army.  This air rescue facility for safe motherhood has been available under the President Woman Upliftment Programme.  (RSS)
