Kathmandu, April 28: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has said the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Bill, 2081 BS, aims to establish good governance in the aviation sector by strengthening the legal procedures.

Responding to concerns raised in the course of the theoretical discussions on the Bill in today's meeting of the House of Representatives, the Minister said the objective of the Bill is to strengthen the aviation sector and produce skilled human resources for it. "The document is expected to play a role in making the relevant area vibrant."

If the Bill is endorsed, it shall pave the way for separating the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) into two entities: a regulating body and a service provider.

He promised that the Bill is not going to cut the existing facilities for the employees. As he said, numerous amendment proposals have been expected in regard with the bill within the given deadline.

Pandey also expressed his hope that the Ministry would act with dedication for corruption prevention, adding that an investigation into the crash of Saurya Airlines is underway and the final report is awaited for further action. He also promised that anyone found responsible for the crash will be punished.

The session for today has been concluded, and the lower house shall meet again at 11:00 am on Tuesday (April 29). (RSS)
