NTB CEO extends invitation for participation in Sagarmatha Sambaad

Kathmandu, April 25: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Deepak Raj Joshi has extended invitation to people from around the globe to participate in the Sagarmatha Sambaad-2025 to be held in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18.

Sagarmatha Sambaad is a multi-stakeholder dialogue forum committed to deliberate on the most prominent issues of global, regional and national significance. Being organized by the Government of Nepal, it brings together people from all walks of life from broader spectrum, having the stake, influence and capacity to shape and drive the discourse for positive change.

Its theme this year is- 'Climate Change, Mountains and the Future of Humanity.'

CEO extended the invitation while participating in the annual conference of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) held in Istanbul, Turkey from April 21 to 23, according to NTB.

A partnership agreement was also signed between the NTB and PATA during the conference. Under this, cooperation will be established in the drafting of 'Tourism White Paper', the formation of a joint forum and programmes aimed at strengthening of the NTB.

Similarly, CEO Joshi has made a special appeal to the world tourism community and urged international buyers and tourism entrepreneurs to participate in the Himalayan Travel Mart to be held in Kathmandu from June 3 to 5, 2025.

The mart aims to promote Nepal's diverse tourism heritage and expand its global cooperation network.

Speaking on 'Building a Sustainable Future' on behalf of Nepal at the PATA Annual Conference held with the theme 'Knowledge for Eternity, Sustainability for the Future', CEO Joshi briefed about Nepal's eco-tourism model, community-based tourism practices and major sustainable initiatives.

He also presented a vision for tourism development based on Nepal's natural, cultural and social diversity.

CEO Joshi said that an agreement has been reached during a meeting between the Board delegation with Dr Randy Dubrand, Chief Executive Officer of Global Sustainable Tourism Council, to expand cooperation on destination certification, membership, research and capacity building.

During the conference, the Board delegation held various discussions and meetings with tourism experts, statisticians, Artificial Intelligence (AI) experts and environmentalists.

NTB stated that during the conference discussions were also held on strengthening the strategy to restore Nepal's tourism sector as a sustainable and the country as a secure global tourism destination. (RSS)
