Rs. 50,000 prize for girls who marry after passing +2 and are above 20 years

By Janarjan Khatri, Sarlahi, Mar 25: Chandra Nagar Rural Municipality of Sarlahi district has felicitated 13 girls who married after passing plus two level education and 20 years of age.

The felicitation carried an award of Rs. 50,000.

The representatives of local level government of this Rural Municipality had decided after local level election three years ago to provide incentives to all girls who marry after passing plus two level education and are aged above 20 years.

23 girls pursuing bachelor level education without being married have also been honoured with a sum of Rs. 11,000 each and that they will be provided Rs. 50,000 when they marry, according to Raj Kumar Mahato, Chairman of the Chandra Nagar Rural Municipality.

The decision to honour girls who marry only after passing +2 education and aged 20 years was taken to curb practice of child marriage and elopement.
