Nima Sherpa Wins Cycle Race

Birtamod, Mar. 23: In an effort to promote road safety and reduce air pollution, the Surunga Sabardhar Youth Club organized an open cycling competition on Saturday. The 15-kilometer race saw Nima Sherpa of Udayapur Gaighat claim first place, completing the course in 29 minutes. Arjun Basnet of Mechinagar, Jhapa, secured second place with a time of 30 minutes, while Milan Rajbanshi of Mechinagar finished third, completing the race in 31 minutes.

The winners were awarded cash prizes, with Nima Sherpa receiving Rs. 15,000, Arjun Basnet Rs. 10,000, and Milan Rajbanshi Rs. 7,500. Additionally, Pradeep Kumar Shah, Badal Limbu, Sahil Nepali, Sameer Chaudhary, and Yubaraj Lawati were each honored with the Shantana Award, receiving Rs. 2,000.

The race started from Surunga Bazaar in Kankai Municipality-3, Jhapa, and passed through several scenic locations, including Jamunkhadi, Dhanushkoti, and Prajapati Domukha, before concluding at Surunga. Kankai Municipality Deputy Mayor Asha Sharma Shiwakoti presented the winners with their awards, recognizing their achievements in the competition.
