Rukum West, Mar. 23: Chaurjahari Municipality in Rukum West is set to introduce an AI chatbot for improved service delivery.

After implementing an integrated service delivery system to enhance convenience for service seekers, the municipality is now preparing to introduce the chatbot for smoother operations.

According to Ishwari Sharma BM, Deputy Mayor of the municipality, the chatbot is being introduced to simplify service delivery using the latest information technology.

The chatbot will provide easy access to information such as services offered by the municipal executive office, required documents, service procedures, applicable fees, reports and contact details.

Sharma added that the chatbot will also offer factual information related to the municipality’s office.

Sher Prasad Dhakal, the Acting Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality, said that the chatbot is being introduced to facilitate tech-friendly service delivery.

He said that the AI chatbot will provide comprehensive information about the municipality’s services conveniently.

Dhakal further said that staff members have undergone orientation to identify and address initial issues encountered during the chatbot’s implementation. He described the chatbot as a computer programme based on conversational AI technology, capable of both written and spoken interactions.

As the chatbot can communicate through both text and voice, it is expected to enhance service convenience for users. The municipality believed that once the AI chatbot became operational, service seekers would be able to access necessary information from home, making preparations easier.

The chatbot will be officially launched within a month as part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to adopt technology-driven service delivery.
