By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar.20: Jiba Lamichhane, an entrepreneur and travel writer, has released his new travelogue, Akshat Antarctica.

The book was jointly unveiled by the author himself and writer-journalist Basanta Basnet amid a programme held at the Academy on Wednesday.

This travelogue takes readers on an exciting journey through the most mysterious and awe-inspiring place on Earth, the Antarctic continent.

Lamichhane visited Antarctica last year, and this book is based on his 12-day journey through the frozen land.

After the book launch, journalist Basnet engaged in a discussion with Lamichhane about his expedition and what inspired him to write the book.

Speaking about it, Lamichhane shared that he is passionate about travelling and always documents his experiences.

Before embarking on his journey to a place where no human permanently resides, he had already decided that he would write a book about this mysterious region. During his 12-day journey, he wrote 25,000 words, which later formed the foundation of the book.

Through further research and refinement, he completed the book within a year.  Although it is a travelogue, the book also incorporates narrative elements and poetic expressions, as mentioned by journalist Basnet during the discussion.

Akshat Antarctica is published by Fine Prints and is priced at Rs. 600.

The first Nepali to visit Antarctica was Bhuwan Singh Bishwokarma. Before setting off on his journey, Lamichhane met Bishwokarma, which he has mentioned in the book.
