Kathmandu, March 19: Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress (NC), Shyam Kumar Ghimire, has apologized for his statement he delivered in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on March 16.
Speaking during 'emergency time' in
the HoR meeting today, he acknowledged that he had realized the 'nature' of his
remarks, in which he called for the legalization of sex trade in the
country.
Ghimire clarified that the opinion
was his personal one and did not reflect the stance of the party he represents in
Parliament. "I apologize for the statement with the realization that it
has hurt the sentiments of members of parliament and other communities,"
he stated. (RSS)
