By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 29: Under the social development programme of the under-construction 140 MW Tanahun Hydropower Project, the construction of a school building has been completed in Benipatan of Vyas Municipality-5, which is affected by the project.
The construction of a 2-storey, 8-room concrete building of Parashar Secondary School on the land provided by Vyas Municipality has been completed by the project at its own expense and technical assistance.
According to a press statement of Tanahun Hydropower Project, the newly constructed building built by the project was handed over and inaugurated on Monday during a programme organised on the occasion of the school's 33rd establishment day and a parents' gathering.
The school building was handed over to Baikuntha Neupane, Mayor of Vyas Municipality. Mayor Neupane inaugurated the building amidst a function.
The school building, constructed as per the design implemented by the Central Project Implementation Unit under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, is earthquake-resistant and disabled-friendly.
The school's infrastructure will have a positive impact on everyone, including students, parents, school management committee, teachers, and others, said the press statement.A contract agreement was signed between the project and the contractors for the construction of the building about two years ago for Rs. 13.824 million.
The construction of the building of Deepak Secondary School in Bhimad Municipality-5, Rishingpatan, which is the project affected area, is also in the final stage. Under the social development programme, 66 projects have been completed so far in the project affected wards of Vyas and Bhimad municipalities and Rishing, Myagde and Bandipur rural municipalities. Similarly, nine projects are currently being implemented under the social development project of Tanahun Hydropower Project.
