Students from outside districts preferring Jumla for medical study

Jumla, Jan 27: Students from different districts have arrived here to study medicine at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences in Jumla. One hundred and four students from different districts have come here to study MBBS, BNS, BPH, B-Pharm, B.Sc Nursing and other subjects under medical education.    

Karnali people, which at one time were forced to die due to lack of doctors and treatment facilities, have now become the centre of production of medical specialists.    

KAHS has established its excellent performances in the field of education by passing 100% in various licensing examinations given by the Medical Council. It is said that the number of people leaving the accessible area and coming to the institution to study medicine has increased.    

Suraj Upadhyay of Kanakasundari Rural Municipality-5, Jumla, who is newly enrolled in BPH, said that once the situation of having to go to Kathmandu carrying heavy bags to study has ended, now it is a situation where even students from more developed districts like Kathmandu have started coming to Jumla, carrying a heavy suitcase, to pursue higher education in medical science.    

Pratiksha Gyawali from Kathmandu, who came to the institution to study MBBS, said that she chose Jumla for her studies because she was impressed with all aspects of the institution, including teaching and management. Students have been admitted to various faculties in the institute.    

Out of the 104 students from outside districts who have enrolled at KAHS, 43 students are pursuing MBBS, 15 BPH, 14 B-Pharm, 17 B Sc Nursing, 15 BNS, a total of 104 students, said Assistant Professor Om Prakash Kafle, coordinator of the fourth year programme of the School of Public Health.   (RSS)
