DPM Singh lauds artists' role in promoting country's identity at global level

Kathmandu, Jan 7: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakashman Singh recognized the significant role played by artists in promoting country's identity in international arena through the medium of art.     

DPM Singh said so in an award ceremony organized at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi, Kathmandu today to honour senior artists and fete other emerging artists for their contribution to promote arts and cultures.     

The event was organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Commercial Artist Association of Nepal (CAAN) and Memorial Day of national luminary Arniko.     

Expressing that meeting artists and recognizing their hard work always elate him, DPM Singh asserted, "The artists who dedicate their lives to arts and crafts should be honoured and acknowledged."     

Reaffirming the utmost support to the artists and art fraternity on the part of the State, he observed that the award would not only honour and celebrate the artists but also inspire the new comers to develop an interest to pursue career in this field.     

On the occasion DPM Singh honoured Kedar Dahal with 'Hem-Ganga Yuwa Pratibha Puraskar' and Indu Panta with 'Hem-Ganga Mahila Prathiva Puraskar'.     

Likewise, the DPM awarded Bipin Shrestha with 'CAAN Adarsha Kala Puraskar', Sundar Lama with 'Amatya Kala Puraskar' and Rajen Kafle with 'Mulmi Graphics Design Puraskar'.     

Moreover, Man Bahadur BK was presented with the 'Krodhkala Siromani Puraskar'. Dr Krishna Ojha was provided with the 'CAAN Sigdel Kala Puraskar', Devendra Paudel the 'Balkrishna Ismriti Kala Puraskar', Rabindra Rajbhandari the Narayandevi Ismriti Puraskar and Padam Ghale the Rajesh Manandhar Cartoon Puraskar.     

Also, Ramesh Khanal was feted with 'Gyani Shah CAAN Amurta Kala Samman', Bhuvan Thapa with 'Thakur Prasad Indira Mainali Murtikala Puraskar' and Prashna Budha Magar with 'Richa Mainali Rijal Ismriti Puraskar'.     

Furthermore, Smita Shreevastav received the 'Nirvana Kala Samman' and Prof Govinda Narayan Jyapu received the 'Surendra Dirgha Kala-Sadhak Samman'.     

Each of the feted artists got cash prize.(RSS)
