By Santosh Raut, Solukhumbhu, Jan.7: Strong tremors have been felt in the Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality area and district of Solukhumbu due to the earthquake measuring 7.0 in the Richter scale with its epicenter at Dinggye County of Tibet, China, that occurred at 6:50 AM on Tuesday.
The spokesperson of Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality Lakpa Chiri Sherpa said that the details of the earthquake-induced physical and human damage are yet to be ascertained.
There is a delay in receiving information because of the geographical difficulty and commute facility.
He said that the earthquake had shaken locals in the area. The distance between the epicenter of the earthquake, Dinggye and Lobuche, and Nepal is only 90 kilometers.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dwarika Prasad Ghimire of the District Police Office, Solukhumbu, information gathering about the possible damage caused by the earthquake is underway.
The local police administration has deployed a team to inspect the situation after the earthquake and the security system has been kept on high alert.
Due to the earthquake that occurred at around 6:50 AM, people in different parts of the Solukhumbu district stepped out of their houses and ran to safe places.
"This earthquake made us recall the 2015 earthquake. We all ran outside in fear," said the locals.
