By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 3: CPN-UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli presented a political report at the party’s Secretariat meeting on Thursday.
The report will be presented at the upcoming Central Committee meeting.
Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali informed that the party Secretariat meeting held at the party office in Chyasal, decided to present the report at the Central Committee, which is scheduled for January 5-6.
“We discussed the main report prepared for the two-day Central Committee meeting,” Gyawali said after the meeting.
The report provides an in-depth analysis of the current political situation, particularly focusing on the formation of a new cooperation between CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress.
“Since this is the first meeting after the formation of the government, we have analysed why such cooperation is necessary and its justification,” Gyawali informed.
Similarly, the meeting concluded that the government’s efforts so far were insufficient and urged the government to expedite its pace.
“The current work being done by the government is not enough. The government must push further and accelerate its efforts,” Gyawali said, sharing the meeting’s decision.
“We have suggested that the powerful government, formed by two parties, must deliver more,” he added.
However, UML acknowledged the significant progress made by the government in the past six months.
“The government has achieved some important milestones, but many tasks remain unfinished,” Gyawali said.
“It was analysed that the government needs to focus more on completing the pending tasks quickly, especially in areas like delivery, development and construction, and revitalising the economy.”
The meeting also discussed concrete actions taken by the government.
The meeting also reviewed the government’s visible accomplishments, such as a 17 per cent increase in revenue and growth in investment.
“Notable progress has been made. The transitional justice bill was unanimously passed, although there has been some delay in forming the commission,” Gyawali said.
“In the cooperative sector, Rs.1.57 billion has been refunded to 6,000 depositors, and partial refunds have been made to 8,000 depositors,” he informed.
Meanwhile, the party meeting concluded that it was not necessary to condemn the allegations made by expelled leader Bhim Rawal against Chairman Oli.
The meeting concluded that the accusations made by Rawal are a copy-paste of the ones made by then-Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ against Oli in 2020.
