A day after killing a woman, tiger kills seven goats in Manahari

By Anil Parajuli,Hetauda, Dec. 31: A tiger has killed seven goats in Manahari, Makawanpur district. The incident occurred around 5: 00 am on Monday at Basantapur of Manahari Rural Municipality-5, where a tiger attacked and killed goats of local Surya Bahadur Moktan.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shyamu Aryal from the District Police Office, Makwanpur, said that the tiger killed seven goats inside a pen near Moktan’s house and carried one of them into the forest. 

Upon being informed by Ward Chairperson Dipendra Adhikari of Manahari-5, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Dilip Paswan reached the site.

On Sunday, a tiger killed Kanchhi Maya Rumba of the same village. The 72-year-old woman was cutting grass in a field near her house when the tiger attacked her, leading to her death. 

Villagers saw the tiger carrying Rumba’s body while searching for her after she failed to return home.

According to police, two elephants from Parsa Wildlife Reserve, a team led by Major Dhalak Bahadur Moktan of the Nepali Army, and another team from Chitwan National Park have been deployed to take the tiger under control.
