Kailali, Dec 28: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has said that journalism sector has crucial role in the establishment of democracy in Nepal.

At a programme in Dhangadhi today organized by Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Dr Rana praised the role of journalism for its proactive and positive role in the establishment of democracy in Nepal since the very beginning.

She also said that the relevance of FNJ has further increased in strengthening the democracy.

"The FNJ has been contributing to professionalism and dignified journalism besides the professional welfare (of journalists). I have the understanding that democracy will be robust only if journalism was strong," Dr Rana added.

The Foreign Minister said that she has construed the FNJ as a robust civil organization.

Saying that Nepal's constitution has ensured press freedom, Dr Rana said journalism and all sectors should make continuous efforts to strengthen democracy, socialism and nationality.(RSS)
