Shrestha elected FNJ Gorkhapatra Chairman

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec 13: Deepak Shrestha has been elected Chairman of The Gorkhapatra Corporation chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists today.

FNJ elected its executive committee, and central and provincial representatives from the election held on Friday.

There were three competitors Deepak Shrestha, Radha Chalise and Saroj Dhungel for the post of Chairman but candidate both Chalise and Dhungel withdrew their candidacy and supported Shrestha.

According to Election Committee coordinator Prakriti Adhikari, the executive committee, and central and provincial representatives have been unanimously elected.

Deb Bahadur Kunwar was elected as vice chairman (Open), Shivamaya Tamang was elected vice Chairman (Woman), Ramesh Bahadur Thapa was elected as Secretary, Pramod Kumar Tandan was elected as Joint secretary (Open), Ajita Rijal was elected as joint secretary (Inclusive) and Mohan Prasad Dahal elected as Treasurer.

Similarly, Arpana Adhikari, Indira Aryal, Deepa Chaudhary and Sabin Bajgain have been elected as members. 

Kumar Bibekananda Mishra and Seetadevi Sharma were elected FNJ central representatives. 

Kul Prasad Gautam (KP Gautam), Manjima Dhakal and Laxmi Kumari Sapkota have been elected provincial representatives.

Out of 50 voters, 48 votes were cast in the election. The candidate for Chaiman Chalise withdrew her candidacy just after the election began so the election process had been held.

Shrestha received 42 votes whereas six votes were invalid.
