DPM Paudel, Lu hold meeting

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 10: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel and United States (US) Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, held a meeting on Monday. 

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Finance, issues, including economic cooperation, effective implementation of projects under MCC and USAID, development finance, and investment in the private sector were discussed, according to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Finance.

DPM Paudel urged US Assistant Secretary of State Lu to extend US financial assistance mentioning that Nepal's top priority was economic prosperity after maintaining political stability in the country. 

On the occasion,  Lu expressed happiness that Nepal has succeeded in maintaining economic growth and stability even though some countries in South Asia were facing economic problems. 

He said that the US government is in favour of providing more financial assistance to Nepal in the coming days.

 Lu arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday and held separate meetings with Nepali Congress president and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (Maoist Centre) chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ the same day.

Lu paid a farewell visit to India and Sri Lanka before arriving in Nepal on Sunday.
