By Bishnu Pokharel,Jhapa, Dec. 10: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasised the government’s commitment to providing relief, concessions, and services to the people while ensuring political stability.

Speaking at various programmes in Jhapa on Monday, Prime Minister Oli called for unity in development efforts, irrespective of political affiliations, as the government focuses on economic progress and development.

During the inauguration of the Beldangi Drinking Water Project in Damak Municipality-3, Jhapa, on Monday, organised by the Department of Drinking Water and Sewerage Management, Prime Minister Oli urged an end to prolonged instability and stressed the need for collective efforts to build the nation. “We have moved forward unitedly in the campaign to build the country, and I urge everyone to participate in it,” he said.

Highlighting the collaboration between the CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress in forming the present government, Prime Minister Oli said that the administration is working to give new momentum to the nation.

He reiterated the necessity of stability for prosperity, cautioning against forces that oppose progress.

“If laws are obstructing the people's aspirations, they will be amended,” Prime Minister Oli said. In another context, Prime Minister Oli said that the country aims to ensure quality drinking water for all Nepalis by 2030.

He further added that campaigns would be conducted nationwide in areas such as electricity, agriculture, communication, industry, and sanitation. He also assured that the government under the leadership of a major party would accelerate unfinished development work to ensure the country does not face instability.

“We must all unite to build the nation. If we act like monkeys, neglecting to build our own houses while destroying others’, the country will never progress,” said Prime Minister Oli.

He further added, “We may belong to different parties, but we should be united in development work. I have become the Prime Minister again as your representative. I will do something more for the country. I will also make your name known across the world. I urge you to be confident in this regard.”

The project, constructed at a total cost of Rs 500.7 million, is expected to benefit 26,743 people from 6,521 households in Ward Nos. 2, 3, and 4 of the municipality. During the programme, residents who donated land for the project were also honoured.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli inaugurated the distribution of land ownership certificates in Ward Nos. 4 and 5 of Gauradaha Municipality, Jhapa. The initiative addresses long-standing issues faced by locals due to an uncertified survey of approximately 8,000 plots of land owned by 4,000 households in the former Maharani Jhoda VDC.

The distribution began following the government’s formation of a committee through an order to resolve the problem. Prime Minister Oli expressed his commitment to solving all public issues, emphasising that the joint government is working towards tangible improvements in response to those questioning the impact of systemic changes.

He dismissed rumours of the government’s collapse, accusing detractors of crating instability and obstructing progress. He reiterated the agreement between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML, stating that power would be transferred to the Nepali Congress President after 18 months.

He assured that the government is committed to resolving such problems to improve the lives of citizens.

“This government will do whatever it takes to change the people’s problem and solve their problems,” he stated, citing the resolution of property document issues for the people of Maharani Jhoda. Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation Balram Adhikari echoed Oli’s sentiments, affirming the government’s commitment to resolving land-related issues.

“This is the beginning, and the process will continue,” Adhikari said.

In another programme, the Prime Minister pledged to uplift marginalised communities by improving access to education and employment opportunities. Likewise, addressing the 29th Foundation Day of the Tajpuria Social Welfare Council in Gauradaha, he underscored the government’s aim to promote employment and entrepreneurship through small-scale industries.

Prime Minister Oli encouraged the people to modernise their art, culture, and traditions while promising to address societal demands. During the programme, the council’s president, Purna Lal Tajpuria, congratulated the Prime Minister.
