Photo exhibition on 50 years of partnership between Nepal and ADB

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec 3:  A week-long photo exhibition has been started today at the Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal on the occasion of 50 years of partnership between Nepal and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the energy sector development.

The exhibition is organised in collaboration with the Photojournalists Club Nepal.

The event was officially inaugurated by state Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Purna Bahadur Tamnag,  Secretary of the Ministry Suresh Acharya, Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising, the Country Director of ADB Nepal Resident Mission Amaud Cauchois and Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Nepal Kristine Hauge Storholt.


The motive of the exhibit is to provide a direct experience through visuals of the work done in the energy sector during the five decades of partnership between Nepal and ADB.

Speaking at the event, Minister Khadka thanked the ADB for their support in Nepal’s energy sector. He said “Many positive works have been carried out in this sector recently. We are grateful for the work the bank has done to improve the energy sector of our country.”

Likewise, Country Director Cauchois spoke at length about the bank’s partnership with the Nepal Government to enhance electricity generation, transmission, distribution, energy sufficiency and export potential.  


NEA MD Ghising, emphasised the importance of the support provided by the bank, especially in large-scale hydropower projects and alternative renewable energy initiatives. He thanked the bank and hoped the partnership will extend and become stronger.

The exhibition is divided into four sections; Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Beyond the meter.
