EC to provide real-time vote counting updates online

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 30: The Election Commission has announced that updated results of the vote counting of the upcoming local-level by-elections will be available on its official website.

Voting is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 1, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm at the designated polling stations. The counting of votes will begin once the voting concludes and all ballot boxes are securely transported to the counting site, said Nita Pokharel Aryal, Joint Secretary and EC’s Spokesperson.

The by-election will fill 41 posts, including one municipal mayor, one deputy mayor, two rural municipality chairpersons, four vice-chairpersons and 33 ward chairpersons.

To ensure transparency and accessibility, the Election Commission has arranged for real-time updates of the vote counting results to be published on its website: https://result.election.gov.np/.

The Commission has urged all stakeholders, including political parties, candidates, voters and media representatives, to access the website for accurate and timely updates on the election outcomes.

Meanwhile, all preparations, along with necessary security arrangements for the local level by-election have been completed, said Aryal. 

The EC has determined a silence period from Thursday midnight till the end of voting to maintain impartiality, transparency and a fear-free environment in the election as per the legal provision.
