Butwal-Narayanghat road construction at snail-pace

blog

Nawalparasi  Correspondent, Kawasoti, Nov.29: Criticism has been coming through towards the contractor because of not being able to accelerate the Butwal-Narayanghat road construction.

Discussion in light of working around the clock to speed up the construction work was conducted with the contractor in the District Administration Office.

According to the Chief District Officer Arun Pokhrel, work will move forward by extensive mobilization of human resources.

Rakesh Jha, the engineer of the contractor side of the project, said that although the contractor side has repeatedly agreed to work round the clock, it is yet to be implemented.

Samkishya Ghimire, the head of the Butwal-Narayangadh road section, said that so far, 53 per cent of work has been completed and from now onwards the construction work will be expedited.

There has been a repetitive agreement with the contractor side in the DAO office in this regard.

Earlier, the political parties of the district also drew the attention of the Chief District Officer several times expressing their displeasure with the delay in road construction.

Meeting with the Chief District Officer many leaders of various parties suggested asking for an explanation from the Chinese contractor for its impending construction work saying that the delay is causing suffering to locals.

It has been six years since the start of the project, but the contractor who bagged the contract to finish it within 36 months has still to make it even after 66 months. Therefore, the contracting company is facing backlash.
