By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 25: President Ramchandra Paudel has approved the deployment of the army for the upcoming by-elections.
On the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, President Paudel granted approval on Sunday to mobilise the army to ensure
the elections are conducted securely, fearlessly, impartially, and peacefully.
In line with the Prime Minister's recommendation on November 21, President Paudel authorised the deployment of the army under Sub-Article 2 of the Article 66 of the Constitution, according to Spokesperson and Joint Secretary Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai for the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas.
By-elections for 41 positions are scheduled to take place nationwide on December 1.

Meanwhile, the President has appointed Chitralekha Yadav as Nepal's Ambassador to Australia.
President Paudel appointed Yadav as the residential ambassador to Australia on Sunday, in accordance with Article 282, Clause (1) of the Constitution, based on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
Yadav, who was recommended for the ambassadorial position by
the Council of Ministers, was approved by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on October 2. She is former deputy speaker to the House of Representatives from Nepali Congress.
Adhikari's resignation approved Likewise, President Paudel has approved the resignation submitted by Suresh Adhikari, Secretary of the House of Representatives under the Federal Parliament. Secretary Adhikari had submitted his resignation to the President on Sunday.
According to Section 6, Clause (A) of the Federal Parliament General Secretary, House of Representatives Secretary, and National Assembly Secretary (Remuneration, Terms of Service, and Facilities) Act, 2019, his resignation has been approved with effect from November 25, according to a statement issued by Joint Secretary and Spokesperson for the Office of President Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai.
